Ghana's AfroBeats circle has a busy influx of
upcoming female entrants, but as most are indie artistes without an active
record label team pushing up their works through top media channels, they
shortly fall prey to male dominance and disappear after a few test-market
releases. Fact though, but Shatty Banks is riding fast far from the
disappearance narrative to be a revered top diva unlike the fleeting sisters.
Credit of difference to Banko Entertainment, the tough-skin record label behind
the Shatty Banks story.
Since the release of “Umbrella”, “Prayer” and “Indisputable Mash-Up”, Shatty
has been utterly busy in multiple studios working on more new singles by
the week. It’s been a no-sleep mode for the songstress and she is being kept so
for months until over a dozen singles have been produced amidst a strong parallel
promo plan for her circulating singles. The pending singles sitting in Shatty
Banks’s song bank now are yummy trendies. They were cleverly cut to the taste
of the street and are surely potential massive hits that are mainstream-worthy.
With just “Umbrella”, Shatty has bagged three nominations at this year’s "Upcoming Music Awards”: “Best Female Vocalist”, “AfroBeats Song of the Year” and “New Discovery of the Year”. She is hopeful of making it to VGMA [Ghana’s supreme mainstream music awards], thus she is working tirelessly to hit that top target.
Today, Shatty Banks is just a few start miles on the AfroBeats highway, but it won’t be a surprise to find her on the mainstream buzz list tomorrow because she is seriously working her drive up there.
