ARTISTE BIOGRAPHY - BENTUM
ISRAEL
Bentum Israel was born in the motherland, Africa, in a country formerly known as the Gold Coast, named Ghana. The little diamond in Africa, After spending a number of years bouncing around, he now calls his home Toronto, Canada.
For
Bentum Israel, music has been a part of his life since the early days of his
childhood. He grew up in middle class home where education was the most
important thing and music was seen as just a hobby. Growing up he did not have
normal toys like some other parts of the world, so he was always trying to come
up with something different to play with.
It was through these creative innovations that Bentum Israel started making
musical instruments and entertained himself on a daily basis. He then formed his
first band, a three piece band with his friends and soon became the
entertainers of the village. But it was not until he was in his first year of
University when his music career got its first glimpse. It was then where he
met a musician with whom he started writing songs for.
Bentum Israel became an instant hit and began
writing and playing music with any band or musician that needed his services
until he got another break and was introduced to Michael Morgan, of the Morgan
Heritage family. Michael was the opening
act for Buju Banton on his Til Shiloh African tour. It was there where his music career got its
first big break and he was employed as a bassist and a back up vocalist on the
tour. After the tour Bentum Israel migrated
to England and continued writing songs and playing music as a session musician.
In 2002, he recorded his first album and then went back home to promote the
album with the Ghana Customs Band. He
also established a recording studio which helped promote local talented
musicians.
After
promoting his album back home Bentum Israel then returned to England in 2004 and
really made his mark on the music scene.
He wrote a very inspiring song against hate crimes for the BBC
Humberside. He was then invited to
perform on a live show which was telecast for a month on the worldwide
television channel BBC.
In
2006 after moving to Canada he was spotted by the organizers of the renowned
Toronto based African culture event Afrofest and got his first major gig in
Canada. However he decided to take some
time out of the music scene to perfect his craft. After some very positive
feedback, Bentum Israel has revamped his image and style and is now recording
his debut album in North America. The uniqueness of Bentum Israel’s style of
music is he mixes Afro, highlife, pop and reggae to create his music. The first
single from the album LOVE CONQUERS, is how on itunes and all electronic media.
The same song been remixed by the management of the world famous Anchor studio
of Jamaica after the engineer of rebel salut heard it they have decided to do
the project so expect nothing but great music from this union.
